Miss Teal

Miss Teal

Miss Teal was raised in the redwoods and sandy seas of the southern Santa Cruz County, developing an art practice at an early age inspired by comic books. This grew into a love for painting, which she took to study on the east coast, earning a BFA from Boston University's College of Fine Art.

She has been a scenic artist and stage manager for theater and festivals for over a decade, continuing  to go bigger with murals and public art in the last five years. Part of the art collective Made Fresh Crew based out of Santa Cruz, she was Lead Ground Operations and crew mural lead for the Seawalls - Artists for Oceans production with the Pangeaseed Foundation, about ocean stewardship and conservation, working on two of their international projects in Santa Cruz, CA & Emeryville, CA. MFC also produced the largest road mural for the BLM movement in Santa Cruz. Last summer, she painted in the Sand City Mural Festival with WE.create Art, and later this summer, she will be participating in the premier Noisy Waters Mural Festival in Bellingham, WA.

She has over twenty public art pieces in the counties of Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz. If you’re on the hunt, you can find many more in Humboldt County. Recently she joined The Method Makers: A Global Artist Network and was accepted into Muros: A Global Art Activation Agency, both based out of the Bay Area. With a style dubbed ‘elemental surrealism’, often depicting wildlife and figurative narratives combined with atmospheric effects, she seeks to bring fine art to the streets, combining art and activism to inspire others in finding and fostering their creativity. Our world needs to shift, and it will take many hands working together to change it for the better.

The Epitome Gallery is proud to be displaying Know Your Monsters, recent artwork of Miss Teal for the month of August. Please join us for the Artist Reception on Arts Alive August 5th 2023 6-9pm.
